Build of the Defender 130 Camper, by Foley Specialist Vehicles
Original chassis from ex MoD 1988 Defender 130 V8 Rapier is galvanised for longevity.
New tyres not fitted at this stage.
New 300 Tdi engine ready for installation - mmm, shiny.
Camper body is built up on top of the original Rapier pickup tub.
Camper windows not yet cut in.
New wheels and tyres fitted.
The bulkhead was also galvanised and then painted.
The overall colour is Land Rover Limestone.
Parts were either refurbished or new.
The dashboard is from the original Rapier.
Hole for the external access side locker.
Side locker finished.
Twin shock absorbers to rear.
Top view before raising roof goes on.
Windows to camper now fitted.
Large hatch on side allows fitting of 100L stainless steel fresh water tank.
Small hatch to side is access to the external shower which has a privacy tent.
Twin spare wheels/tyres fitted to rear along with 2 x jerry can racks
- 1 for water, 1 for diesel.
Superwinch fitted in front bumper.
Looking forward over the cab.
Access hatch to cab being fitted.
Looking forward from rear, ventilated gas cylinder locker being fitted.
Kitchen cupboards under construction.
Combination gas boiler for hot water to sink and external shower fitted to wall.
Cooker and sink now fitted into worktop.
Hinged lids to sink and cooker give smart appearance and extra workspace.
Engel fridge built in.
Cupboard built in, the right width for wine and water bottles.
From left to right:
Mains power socket, only works when hooked upto mains !
2 x 12V DC sockets.
Water tank gauge.
Battery monitor for all 3 battery systems.
Left: Eberspacher control for diesel heater, thermostat and 7 day on/off timer.
Top Right: 12 V DC socket.
Bottom Right: On/Off switches for fridge and water pump.
